Five Best Super Foods for Your Heart



February is known for Valentine’s Day. You’ll see different kinds of heart-colored elements around the city. Even radio stations are filling the airwaves with romantic songs. But did you ever take good care of your own heart? Loving goes both ways. That includes safeguarding your own body… especially your heart. So this month of hearts eat some of the following superfoods to make sure you heart is fit for the battle ahead. Keeping a healthy diet and proper exercise also is good for your heart. Almonds

Make your breakfast a good one. Eat a bowl of oats! Oatmeal is fiber-rich and full of omega-3 fatty acids, potassium and folate. It can lower levels of bad cholesterol and help keep your arteries clear. Eating whole grains can lower your risk of having heart diseases, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Asparagus

Toss some fresh asparagus in your next meal. This heart-friendly low calories vegetable contains nutrients that are anti-inflamatory like Vitamins C, Vitamin D and Folate. Did you know that these green succulent spears have been considered as a delicacy since ancient times?

Salmon


Like oatmeal, Salmon is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids that can effectively reduce blood pressure and keep your arteries clear from clotting. It also has protein and amino acid. Studies that were recently conducted have found that salmon contains bioactive peptides that helps provide support for joint cartilage, control digestive track inflammation and effectiveness of insulin.

Blueberries


Most fruits are good for you. But blueberries have unique antioxidants and Vitamin C to shoo away stress and they are low in calories and sugar which is good for anyone in a strict diet. It is also a good source of fiber which can relieve constipation and cramps when you are stressed out.
